One Piece Swimsuit

One-piece swimsuits (usually) provide more modest coverage than two-piece bikinis. Most one-piece swimsuits cover your torso leaving your legs and arms bare. The underlying aim of a one-piece swimsuit is to cover your breasts, stomach, crotch and butt. One-piece swimsuits were the norm in the eighteenth century before the invention of a bikini.

Previously, men used to wear one-piece swimsuits that were remarkably similar to women’s one-piece swimsuit in design. The classic one-piece swimsuit for women had two straps and a scoop neck. Modern fashion designers have brought about a number of variations in the classic one-piece swimsuit ranging from a plunging V neckline to the lower back to show off more skin.

Types Of One Piece Bathing Suits:

Following are some of the most common types of one-piece bathing suits:

1. Halter One Piece Bathing Suit – A halter one-piece bathing suit has strings or straps attached to the front of the bathing suit by the chest. These strings or straps are tied around the neck leaving your back completely bare. Halter one-piece bathing suits add instant lift and provide support to your bust. Also, since halter one-piece bathing suits leave your back completely uncovered, they are considered to be one of the sexiest types of one-piece bathing suits.

2. Blouson One Piece Bathing Suit – A blouson one-piece bathing suit has a loosely fitted tank top that ties at both the waist and the bottom. Some blouson one-piece bathing suits have a built in bra that aims to give the illusion of a smaller bust or tummy.

3. Boy Leg One Piece Bathing Suit – It provides more coverage than conventional one-piece bathing suits. Boy leg one-piece bathing suits cover your upper thighs and are best suited for people having a curvier butt or fat thighs. Boy leg one-piece bathing suits are ideal for beach sports such as water volleyball, jogging etc.

4. Surplice One Piece Bathing Suit – A surplice one-piece bathing suit is different from conventional one-piece bathing suits but it is similar to a Japanese kimono i.e. it has a separate piece that drapes over the top and covers the bust creating the illusion of a smaller tummy. Surplice one-piece bathing suits also give a more sophisticated look than conventional one-piece bathing suits.

5. Skater Skirt One Piece Bathing Suit – A skater skirt one-piece bathing suit is just like a conventional one-piece bathing suit. It, however, has a built in skirt and offers more coverage for the tummy, butt and thighs. Skater skirt one-piece bathing suits are recommended for people having curvier butt or/and fat thighs.

6. Bandeau Style One Piece Bathing Suit – A bandeau style one-piece bathing suit is strapless one-piece bathing suit that has pleats in the middle. Many bandeau style one-piece bathing suits come with straps that can be attached in various styles including halter, spaghetti straps or crisscross.

7. Athletic One Piece Bathing Suit – An athletic one-piece bathing suit allows full flexibility and does not hamper swimming movements. This is why athletic one-piece bathing suits are most common with athletes all over the world.

8. Bodyskin - Bodyskin is a new innovation in one-piece bathing suits and resembles a wetsuit. Despite remarkable similarity with wetsuits, bodyskin differs in functionality i.e. its aim is reduced friction through water for professional swimmers and not more modest coverage.

9. Swim Dress - Swim dress is a one-piece bathing suit that looks like a short dress which you can wear for swimming. Swim dress provides the most coverage and is ideal for maternity wear.
